Some people seem to be born to succeed. It seems that they have an innate ability to grab the world with both hands and get what they want when they want it. They’re often called lucky, they’re publicly admired and secretly envied, and they seem to live life on their own terms and in their own time. Yet, they are no different than you or I.
Find that hard to believe? Well, don’t. Successful people simply look at the world differently. They’re view is a complete opposite to the way unsuccessful people look at the world. Successful people have adopted a “growth mindset”. The outlook of less successful people is called a “fixed mindset”. The difference between these two perspectives is the difference between getting what you want out of life or going without. So, if you truly want to reach your goals, then you need to learn how to adopt and practice a growth mindset.
A person with a growth mindset really and truly believes that intelligence can be developed over the course of a lifetime. In this sense, a person with a growth mindset is open to learning new things. A person with a fixed mindset, on the other hand, believes that intelligence is static and will never change. This causes a person with a fixed mindset to shy away from learning because they don’t want to appear foolish or less intelligent than they are. These difference perspectives make all the difference when it comes to success or the lack of success.
Growth mindset people tend to embrace challenges that come their way and are able to overcome obstacles because of their desire to learn and improve themselves. They see the effort of learning something new as worthwhile. They tend to accept criticism and take ownership of their mistakes. They see the success of others as an opportunity to learn and admire others for their achievements. All of this encourages them to develop greater skills and learn more than a person with a fixed mindset. They believe in themselves and in their abilities. They know they can set their own course in the world. This free will gives them the courage they need to carve their own niche in the wall of success. If you want to reach your own goals on your own terms, then adopt a growth mindset. Take the steps necessary to grow and learn on your journey toward success.
